UNDER THE “ZETAS´S” POWER
“The New Yorker” published in its last issue a very good “ensemble” of photos from the mexican photographer Eunice Adorno reflecting the “ghost towns” caused by the “Zetas” war activities . The Editors asked Adorno to join Victor Hugo Ornelas, himself a journalist and one of the main subjects
in William Finnegans article, also published this week in “The New Yorker”, on the subject off drugs war in Jalisco and, specially, in the town of Guadalajara.
Both, Adorno and Ornelas, visited several of the
neighbourhoods described by Finnegan in his article and Adorno pictured them. Ornelas was at the same time Adorno’s guide and subject of analysis. The fact that eighty-three journalis was put to death in the region during the last ten years was always present in Ornelas memory. This was clearly reflected in her photos.
